2 The parent library

Seven true-to-life archetypes, each with its own personality, opening line, distinct voice, and coaching tips:

Each comes in two stage-appropriate versions via a Junior (K-6) / Senior (7-12) toggle on one screen, 14 distinct scenarios in total. Junior runs on reading levels, behaviour notes and young-child concerns; Senior on disengagement, ATAR and subject choices, suspensions, adolescent anxiety, HSC marks and phones.

3 Inside the conversation

  • Type or speak. Text mode, or full voice mode with realistic spoken voices and an auto-following microphone.
  • The parent won't follow a script. They push back, soften when you make a good point, and dig in when you don't.
  • Strategy tips for the chosen parent sit beside the conversation the whole time.
  • Quick phrases, curated de-escalation lines you can drop in with a tap.
  • Suggested responses, on demand. Tap "suggest a response" and it reads the live conversation and offers three things you could say next. It never appears uninvited, so it coaches without doing the thinking for you (and it can be switched off entirely).
  • Turn tracker, a "Turn X of 10" progress bar so you can see how far through the interview you are.

4 What a rehearsal produces

The Reflective Practice Debrief

A guided reflection (Description → Feelings → Evaluation → Action Plan): a confidence rating, which strategies you actually used, what went well, what felt hard, and one specific thing to do differently next time.

The Student Action Card

Auto-generated from the conversation:

  • The key gap for the student
  • Learning strategies and behavioural strategies
  • A follow-through step with a review point
  • A draft message to the parent, ready to adapt
  • Standards matching, each card tags the professional standard it evidences (e.g. AITSL 7.3 Engage with parents and carers, 6.2 professional learning), so a rehearsal doubles as documented evidence for accreditation and PD
  • A downloadable calendar reminder (.ics) to follow up

Every field on the card is editable, tune the gap, strategies, follow-up, standards and the draft parent message before you save or share. Printable, shareable, and datable evidence.

5 For the teacher, over time

  • Student Notes, one running record per student. Every rehearsal debrief and Action Card, plus a quick note, a logged interview or call, a parent email (summarised) and a transcribed voice note, all captured in one place, so nothing scatters across an inbox and nothing is re-typed. Rehearse for a specific student and the debrief files back to their record. "One student. Every conversation. One record."
  • Draft a reply, one click writes a warm parent reply straight from that student's running record, grounded only in the real notes and prior contact, never your private rehearsals or another student. Edit and send.
  • My Skills, confidence across all seven parent types, built from the teacher's own rehearsals, priority-first, so they always know where to point the next session. Private to them.
  • My Day, a daily prompt board (a follow-up due, a good-news call overdue, a parent email waiting, a two-minute rep) that turns the tool from once-a-year into a daily habit.
  • Session history and a Student Action Cards library, searchable, in a list or card view, everything saved so nothing is re-typed.

6 For school leaders

In a full school rollout (staff accounts and sync switched on), leadership gets a Staff Insights dashboard: participation, average confidence, most-encountered parent types, a risk-by-confidence view, and most-used phrases. Aggregate only, never an individual teacher's notes or transcripts. It builds toward a one-click professional-learning session targeting wherever staff confidence is lowest.

The KPIs it surfaces: staff participation, confidence uplift over the term, coverage across all seven parent types, and follow-through on Action Cards, the numbers a leader can actually report against.

On a standalone or demo build there is no leadership view at all, every teacher's practice stays entirely on their own device.

7 Built-in feedback

A short reviewer feedback survey lives inside every build (prompted at the debrief, and in the footer). It is how you and your staff tell us what is and isn't working while you trial it: responses come straight to the ParentTeacherIQ team, so we hear the verdict and sharpen the product without anyone having to chase or collate. The wording flexes for a school or a professional-partner audience.

10 Privacy & how it runs

  • Runs in any browser. Nothing to install.
  • The open build needs no login and stores nothing server-side, each teacher's practice stays on their own device.
  • In an integrated school rollout, leadership only ever sees aggregate patterns, never the content of a note. On the open or demo build there is no leadership view at all.
  • No real student data required, the parents are fictional personas.
